Dr. Virginia R. Mitchell.
After more than 32 years in teaching and educational
administration, Dr. Virginia R. Mitchell plans to retire as president of
McDowell Technical Community College McDowell Technical Community College in Marion, North Carolina, is situated in the foothills of the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains and is located 32 miles east of Asheville near the intersection of Interstate 40 and NC Highway 226 South. in Marion, N.C., on Dec. 31.
Mitchell is the third president in McDowell Tech's history, having
assumed the post in January 2000. Before becoming president, she was the
executive vice president at Mitchell Community College in Statesville,
N.C.
Mitchell received her bachelor's degree from Rhodes College
and her master's degree and doctorate from the University of
Memphis The University of Memphis is a public research university located in Memphis, Tennessee, United States, and is a flagship public research university of the Tennessee Board of Regents system. .
