Kudlinski links together anecdotes and imagined conversations in a very readable fashion that offers insights into Seuss's creative process as well as his emotional struggles and his efforts to make the world a kinder, more moral place. She makes a good case for his global popularity and for the many awards, including a Pulitzer. The book would have been even more useful had it included examples of his art.
