Strickler, who managed TRW's largest systems engineering project prior to becoming vice president and deputy general manager of TRW Environmental Safety Systems Inc. in February, has been involved in a number of major technological projects during his 15 years with TRW. In his new position he succeeds Roland L. Robertson, who has moved to a new assignment within the company.

, Calif. The division has been the systems manager and integrator for the U.S. Air Force on the research, development, installation, maintenance and operation of the nation's ballistic missile program.

The division currently is systems engineer for the Peacekeeper and Minutemen missiles and several advanced technology projects. TRW's responsibilities have included the management of a large team of contractors and subcontractors and integration of technical activities of contractors and various government agencies.

The ballistic missile program is the largest technology and management program in the nation's history.

Strickler, who received his bachelors, masters and doctoral degrees from Purdue University, joined TRW in 1980 after serving as Congressional Science Fellow in the U.S. Senate. From 1968 to 1979, he was with The Aerospace Corp., involved in advanced concepts and technologies for various defense systems. He held senior engineering positions at Aerojet General Corp. prior to joining The Aerospace Corp.

Among Strickler's assignments at TRW was the study and development of underground missile silo concepts, including the design and construction of test silos The Silos are a band formed by Walter Salas-Humara and Bob Rupe in New York City in 1985.
