Dr. Gary O'Brien joins Memsic, Incorporated as Vice President of Engineering.

ANDOVER, Mass. -- Reporting to Dr. Yang Zhao, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of Memsic, Dr. O'Brien has recently joined Memsic as Vice President of Engineering and will oversee all product design and development for it's world wide engineering teams located in Wuxi, China, Chicago, Illinois and at their world headquarters in Andover, Massachusetts. The management at Memsic is very pleased and excited to bring someone of Gary's skill, reputation and experience to the team at this very important phase in Memsic's growth.

Dr. O'Brien comes to Memsic with over fourteen years experience in the design and development of multiple sensor technologies including accelerometer accelerometer

Instrument that measures acceleration. Because it is difficult to measure acceleration directly, the device measures the force exerted by restraints placed on a reference mass to hold its position fixed in an accelerating body.
, gyro and pressure sensors. He joined Motorola's Sensor Products Division in Tempe, Arizona, as a mixed signal circuit design engineer in 1993. From 1993 through 2005, he designed and developed multiple sensor systems for Motorola and, its recent spin-off company, Freescale Semiconductor.

Gary currently holds nine issued patents in the MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) Tiny mechanical devices that are built onto semiconductor chips and are measured in micrometers. In the research labs since the 1980s, MEMS devices began to materialize as commercial products in the mid-1990s.  area, in addition to having previously generated multiple automotive accelerometer and pressure sensor/ASIC designs with production units totals exceeding 45 million devices distributed worldwide.

Dr. O'Brien received a B.S. degree in electrical engineering with honors from the Florida Institute of Technology Florida Institute of Technology is an independent technical college located in Melbourne, Florida (Brevard County), United States. It was founded by Jerome P. Keuper on September 22, 1958 as Brevard Engineering College, absorbing the University of Melbourne, and changing its name , Melbourne, FL, in 1988. He received an M.S. degree in electrical engineering from the Georgia Institute of Technology Georgia Institute of Technology, in Atlanta, Ga.; coeducational; state supported; chartered 1885, opened 1888. It is a member school in the university system of Georgia. Significant among its facilities and programs are the Frank H. , Atlanta in 1993, and a Ph.D. in electrical engineering from the University of Michigan (body, education) University of Michigan - A large cosmopolitan university in the Midwest USA. Over 50000 students are enrolled at the University of Michigan's three campuses. The students come from 50 states and over 100 foreign countries. , Ann Arbor in 2004.

About MEMSIC, Inc.

Headquartered in Andover, Massachusetts, MEMSIC, Inc. designs, manufactures and markets CMOS (Complementary Metal Oxide Semiconductor) Pronounced "c-moss." The most widely used integrated circuit design. It is found in almost every electronic product from handheld devices to mainframes.  Micro-Electro-Mechanical Systems (MEMS) IC products that have on-chip mixed signal processing. MEMSIC is the first and the only company that integrates a MEMS inertial sensor with mixed signal processing circuitry onto a single chip using a standard CMOS IC process. This combination of technology has successfully yielded highly affordable standard IC products with the highest long-term reliability and performance available today in the MEMS IC industry. This technological advantage forms the basis of Memsic's approach towards more sophisticated integrated sensor solutions used in many consumer and automotive applications.
