The Italian Air Force

The complete order of a dozen C-27Js is scheduled to be delivered by 2008, effectively replacing the ageing G.222s still in service with the 46th Wing ItAE The C-27J is an advanced new-generation medium airlifter that was specifically designed as a tactical transport. The aircraft can take-off from and land on paved and unimproved surfaces less than 500 metres long, can transport ten tonnes, 62 persons in passenger and 36 in stretcher (with six assistants) configuration.
