Downtown culture stars.


The Lower Manhattan Cultural Council will hold its annual benefit on May 26th, along with a silent auction to raise funds for its arts programs and services. Charlie Rose will act as master of ceremonies for this years' event, which celebrates the close of LMCC's successful 30th year and honors Liz Thompson, executive director from 1997 to 2003.  will also pay tribute to Dr. David A. Caputo David Armand Caputo became the sixth president of Pace University in 2000.

The evening's events, to be held in the World Financial Center Winter Garden, will include performances by Daniel Bernard Roumain Daniel Bernard Roumain (DBR) is a classically trained composer, performer, violinist, and band-leader noted for blending funk, rock, hip-hop and classical music into an energetic and experiential sonic form.  and a preview excerpt of Stephan Koplowitz's The Grand Step Project.

LMCC will again host a silent auction of original works of art. More than 60 artists have donated their work, including Santiago Calatrava, Sol LeWitt, Robert Longo, Tom Otterness and Sonya Sklaroff.

Items up for auction will be available for advanced bidding at a free preview party on May 19 at DKNY DKNY Donna Karan New York  SoHo. All proceeds from the auction will go to support LMCC programs.
