Downtown's booming business.


In the Oct. 31 story on attracting retail to downtown ("A Hard Sell"), there were some things left out.

 business. Ralph's is under construction on Ninth Street between Hope and Flower and will open in early 2007.

We are hosting a tour on Nov. 10th for 120 people, including bankers, retailers and restaurateurs. This event is totally booked and we are turning people away. Sure, sometimes things take longer than we would like, such as the opening of Pitfire Pizza Co., but the city process is difficult for any retailer anywhere in Los Angeles. Retail and restaurants are eager to open in downtown and that will only continue to grow as our resident population grows.
