Down Under Deal: Northrop Grumman Northrop Grumman Corporation (NYSE: NOC) is an aerospace and defense conglomerate that is the result of the 1994 purchase of Grumman by Northrop. The company is the third largest defense contractor for the U.S. Corp. won a piece of a $4.6
billion contract to supply 24 advanced Super Hornet hornet: see wasp. fighter bombers to
Australia. Nearly all of the jet's interior electronics and
fuselage assembly are completed at Northrop's El Segundo El Segundo (ĕl sēgŭn`dō), industrial city (1990 pop. 15,223), Los Angeles co., S Calif., on Santa Monica Bay; inc. 1917. Its products include navigation and computer systems, aircraft parts, office machines, telephone apparatus, and facility,
which employs 1,200 workers. The order will keep the plant open at least
until 2012. Boeing Co. is the prime contractor on the project.
