Dow Jones announces executive appointments.


NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 19, 1995--Dow Jones & Co. Inc. announced three executive appointments today.

 W. Austin, vice president/circulation of The Wall Street Journal, was appointed general manager of the Journal. Austin, 48, who succeeds Burenga as general manager of The Wall Street Journal, will have overall responsibility for the newspaper's circulation, advertising and production operations.

Austin joined Dow Jones in 1970 as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal in Dallas. He subsequently served as a Page One special writer, news editor, Pittsburgh bureau chief, and deputy national news editor. In 1987 he was appointed director of corporate relations for Dow Jones and in 1989 was named director of circulation. He was appointed vice president/circulation in 1992 and named to the Dow Jones management committee that year.

House, 47, succeeds James H. Ottaway Jr. as president of the International group. She joined Dow Jones in 1974 as a reporter for The Wall Street Journal in Washington and was named diplomatic correspondent in 1978, assistant foreign editor in 1983 and foreign editor in 1984. In 1984 House received a Pulitzer Prize for international reporting
