The new indexes can be utilized for electricity benchmarking and price comparisons, as well as establishing price contracts. The weighted average will be based on bilateral transactions between firms that occur at NP-15 and SP-15, which are delivery areas in California. NP (North Path) is the location closest to COB (California Oregon Border), and SP (South Path) is closest to Palo Verde.

The Dow Jones NP-15 and SP-15 Electricity Price Indexes will be quoted daily on Dow Jones Energy Service and published every weekday in The Wall Street Journal. Subscribers to Dow Jones Energy Service will have immediate access to the new indexes.

The new product brings to nine the family of Dow Jones electricity price indexes.
