Dow Jones Internet And Technology Sector Indexes Become Now Tradable Through New Exchange-Traded Funds; Total Assets Linked To Dow Jones Indexes Top $240 Billion.

Investors will be able to buy or sell exchange-traded funds linked to the performance of the Dow Jones Internet Index and Dow Jones Technology Sector Index beginning Friday, May 19.

The Dow Jones Internet and Technology Sector indexes track key sectors of the U.S. equities market. Both indexes provide benchmarks for tracking sector performance and now serve as the basis for investment products, licensed to and managed by Barclays Global Investors Barclays Global Investors is a subsidiary of British-based Barclays Bank which is in the investment management industry. It is the largest corporate money manager in the world, with over £936 billion (US$1.77 trillion) under management as of March 2006[1].  and trading on the American Stock Exchange American Stock Exchange (AMEX)

The Dow Jones Internet and Technology Sector indexes exchange-traded funds are among the more than 250 licensed investment products from Dow Jones Indexes. Total assets based on these indexes, including the Dow Jones STOXX pan-European indexes, now total an estimated $240 billion. The Dow Jones Internet Index is a 40-stock benchmark that measures the performance of US Internet stocks. The index seeks to represent 80% of the market capitalization of the Internet sectors. Over the last twelve months (through 5/15/00) the Dow Jones Internet Index is up 3.1%.

The Dow Jones Technology Sector Index measures the combined performance of US computer software, hardware and related systems and peripheral device companies. The index has gained 60% over the last year (through 5/15/00). The Dow Jones Technology Sector Index is part of the Dow Jones U.S. Total Market Index, which provides 95 % representation of the U.S. equity market. The Dow Jones U.S. Total Market Index incorporates the Dow Jones Global Industry Classification Structure, which comprises 10 broad market sectors, 40 mid-level industry groups and 70 more narrowly defined sub groups.
