 & Company announced today that it has completed the purchase of Alternative Investor Group. The deal originally was announced on February 19, 2004.

The purchase includes stock and assets comprising the Alternative Investor Group of Wicks Business Information, LLC (Logical Link Control) See "LANs" under data link protocol.

 for a cash purchase price of $85 million, adjusted to reflect working capital (Dow Jones assumed no debt in the transaction).

Alternative Investor is the leading provider of databases, newsletters and industry conferences for the venture-capital market and newsletters and events for the private-equity market. With this acquisition, Dow Jones Newswires Dow Jones Newswires is the real-time financial news organization owned by Dow Jones. Founded in 1882, its primary competitors are Bloomberg L.P. and Reuters. The company reports more than 420,000 subscribers -- including brokers, traders, analysts and fund managers -- as of July  will be the leading provider of newsletter, databases and industry conferences for the venture-capital and private equity markets.
