 at The Wall Street Journal's U.S. edition increased 10.2% in November (down 0.3% on a per issue basis with two extra publishing days in November 2004 compared to November 2003). In the general advertising category at the Journal, November linage increased 20.6% due to strong increases in consumer advertising categories including auto, luxury goods and pharmaceutical as well as B-2-B professional services (job) professional services - A department of a supplier providing consultancy and programming manpower for the supplier's products.  advertising. At Barron's, total national advertising pages increased 45.0% in November (16.0% per issue) on gains in financial and auto advertising. Year-to-date pages at Barron's were up 14.9% (12.5% per issue) over the prior year's comparable period.

Internationally, The Wall Street Journal Europe's linage increased 14.3% (3.9% per issue) in November, with year-to-date linage down 2.2% (3.0% per issue). The Asian Wall Street Journal's linage increased 29.8% (18.0% per issue), with year-to-date linage down 3.1% (3.5% per issue). Two additional publishing days along with an increase in general advertising drove November's increase in advertising for both the European and Asian Journals.

At Ottaway Newspapers, advertising linage declined 3.5% primarily due to there being one less Sunday in November 2004 compared to November 2003. Year-to-date same property advertising linage at Ottaway was up 4.0% over the prior year.
