Dow Jones & Company Announces Two New Director Nominations.Business Editors NEW YORK--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 21, 2001 Dow Jones & Company announced today that two new individuals have been nominated to stand for election to the Company's Board of Directors at the April 2001 annual meeting of shareholders. If elected, they would serve until the Company's annual meeting in the year 2004. The nominees are Dieter von Holtzbrinck Dieter von Holtzbrinck (born 1942) is one of the heirs to the Holtzbrinck publishing empire, founded by his father in 1948. He was a director of the Dow Jones & Co. Inc. , president and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board. of Verlagsgruppe Georg von Holtzbrinck GmbH, and Elizabeth Steele, a member of the Bancroft Family, the controlling shareholders of Dow Jones. Mr. von Holtzbrinck, 59, has held his present position since 1980. The privately-held von Holtzbrinck Group publishes books (including Macmillan, St. Martin's Press, Henry Holt, and Farrar, Straus & Giroux Farrar, Straus & Giroux Publishing company in New York City noted for its literary excellence. It was founded in 1945 by John Farrar and Roger Straus as Farrar, Straus & Co. ), scientific and technical journals (including Scientific American and Nature), newspapers (including Handelsblatt, Die Zeit, and Der Tagesspiegel) and other print, electronic and broadcast products and services.
