Dow Corning to acquire France's Multibase S.A. (Acquisitions, Expansion).


Dow Corning Dow Corning is a multinational corporation headquartered in Midland, Michigan, USA. Dow Corning specializes in silicon and silicone-based technology, offering more than 7,000 products and services. Dow Corning is equally owned by The Dow Chemical Company and Corning, Inc. , Midland, MI, announced its intent to acquire Multibase S.A. of France, an independent thermoplastics compounder serving the automotive, appliance and packaging industries. The board of directors for each company has approved the plan. Final approval by Multibase shareholders is expected this month, with the acquisition expected to be finalized See finalization.  by April 30. Multibase is a polymer compounding firm providing customized compound solutions, tolling service and product development, with global customers in the automotive, household appliances, packaging, construction, and sports and leisure markets. Multibase has production facilities in France, the U.S. and India, and sales offices in Brazil and China. Multibase products include Multi-Flexa thermoplastic elastomers Thermoplastic elastomers (TPE), sometimes referred to as thermoplastic rubbers, are a class of copolymers or a physical mix of polymers (usually a plastic and a rubber) which consist of materials with both thermoplastic and elastomeric properties. , Multibatcha mineral filled polyolefin masterbatches and Multi-Proa polyolefin compounds. Dow Corning also announced the launch of a new business model and global brand. Called Xiameter, the business will operate via the web and feature streamlined services that are said to dramatically reduce the cost of commonly used silicone-based products. Xiameter is said to offer transparent, dynamic and real time lowest-base pricing for high-volume shipping units of silicone-based materials.
