Dow Corning Dow Corning is a multinational corporation headquartered in Midland, Michigan, USA. Dow Corning specializes in silicon and silicone-based technology, offering more than 7,000 products and services. Dow Corning is equally owned by The Dow Chemical Company and Corning, Inc.  and Gummiwerk Kraiburg GmbH, Dusseldorf, Germany, signed a partnership agreement under which Kraiburg will become a distributor of Dow Coming's Silastic Silastic /Si·las·tic/ (si-las´tik) trademark for polymeric silicone substances that have the properties of rubber but are biologically inert; used in surgical prostheses.  brand silicone rubbers Noun 1. silicone rubber - made from silicone elastomers; retains flexibility resilience and tensile strength over a wide temperature range
synthetic rubber, rubber - any of various synthetic elastic materials whose properties resemble natural rubber
 in Germany, Switzerland and Austria. Under the terms of the agreement, Kraiburg will distribute Dow Coming's Silastic brand rubber compounds and Silastic brand liquid silicone rubbers, as well as their own silicone rubber compounds made with Silastic rubber bases from Dow Coming.
