Dow Corning, Rohm & Haas form healthcare alliance.
Dow Corning and Rohm & Haas have formed a strategic alliance to
create materials and services for healthcare applications. Dow Coming
will combine its silicone-based technology with Rohm & Haas'
acrylic and adhesives technologies to make products for wound care and
delivery of drugs through the skin. Dow Corning is equally owned by
Midland, MI-based Dow Chemical and Corning of Corning, NY. The joint
venture has annual sales of about $2.7 billion. Rohm & Haas, with
2002 sales of $5.7 billion, is a Philadelphia, PA-based producer of
specialty materials.
