, Midland, MI, has announced that the production of ethanolamines is back on line at Union Carbide Corporation's St. Charles Operations in Hahnville, LA. The facility was shut down as a result of Hurricane Katrina. Union Carbide Corporation is a wholly owned subsidiary Wholly Owned Subsidiary

Dow Chemical has also announced that it has declared force majeure [French, A superior or irresistible power.] An event that is a result of the elements of nature, as opposed to one caused by human behavior.

The VAM production facility at the company's Texas City Operations, which is owned and operated by Union Carbide Corporation, was shut down in preparation for the hurricane, but no structural damage was caused by the storm. However, extenuating circumstances including availability of natural gas, feedstock, and transportation have impacted VAM production.
