Douglas-Roberts keys No. 20 Memphis' win

Chris Douglas-Roberts scored 23 points, including nine during a decisive 12-3 run, and No. 20 Memphis beat Southern Miss 75-62 on Saturday night.

Douglas-Roberts put together strings of consecutive baskets twice in the second half to end quick-strike spurts by the Golden Eagles and help the Tigers (13-3, 3-0 Conference USA) win their fifth straight.

Memphis, hitting 60 percent of its free throws entering the game, needed the extra hustle from Douglas-Roberts after missing 13 of 46 from the line.

The number of free throws granted Memphis was a constant issue for Southern Miss (11-4, 1-1), and coach Larry Eustachy was ejected after receiving a second technical for arguing foul calls. Eustachy was kicked out with 2:31 remaining after standing face to face with and screaming at official Larry Rose near midcourt.

The Golden Eagles were led by Craig Craft's 21 points. They also got 13 from Jeremy Wise, who hit two key 3-pointers in the second half that twice helped Southern Miss take late leads.

Joey Dorsey added 14 points for Memphis and Joey Dozier had 11.
