Douglas Elliman has bolstered its nationwide appraisal and consulting network with the establishment of offices in Boston, Los Angeles and Washington, DC.

In Boston, Douglas Elliman has established a joint venture with I.J. Barkan, Inc., a full service real estate company, serving a nationwide roster of clients with a wide spectrum of real estate services, including consultation, appraisal, property management, leasing, investment sales, development and asset management.

Irwin J. Barkan, CRE is the president and owner of I.J. Barkan, Inc., and is actively involved in all aspects of this full service real estate firm's activities. Prior to 1984, Barkan served as senior vice president for The Beal Companies, and performed a wide range of appraisal and consulting assignments throughout the United States. Barkan holds the highly respected American Society of Real Estate Counselor's CRE designation and was appointed by Governor Weld to the Massachusetts Treasury Department's Investment Advisory Council.

In Los Angeles, Douglas Elliman has formed a joint venture with The Epstein Co., to create a full service real estate firm, Douglas Elliman Appraisal & Consulting/West.

The Epstein Co. is an independent Appraisal and Consulting firm which has been serving the real estate needs of major banks, savings and loans, insurance companies, attorneys, and developers, since its formation in 1962 by Gilbert Epstein, MAI. In addition to heading one of Los Angeles's premier commercial real estate appraisal companies, Epstein is a partner/owner in a property development company, a commercial brokerage organization, and a financial services group.

The resident officer of Douglas Elliman Appraisal & Consulting/West is Martin Barkan. Barkan is a Los Angeles based real estate appraiser and consultant who began his career in 1980 as an independent contractor with James Felt Realty Services, A Grubb & Ell is Company. During recent years, Barkan has been engaged in the appraisal of major retail facilities, office buildings, industrial properties, and condominium developments. Barkan is a graduate of Rochester Institute of Technology and Pratt Institute.

In Washington, DC, Douglas Elliman has formed strategic relationships with Arnold S. Tesh Advisors and The Zell Company, respected appraisers and consultants.

Arnold S. Tesh Advisors serves domestic and international clients concerned with property interests ranging from individual properties to major portfolios. The firm provides expert counsel with respect to determination of market value, development of product and economic courses of action and assistance in resolving differences concerning value or in conducting negotiations.

Zell Partners, Ltd. offers commercial real estate owners, investors and users acquisition, disposition, and development, needs analysis, lease review, construction consulting and move management services.
