Two sets of one-act plays - a two-fer in Eugene and a three-fer in Oakridge - are on tap for Eugene area theater audiences this week.

Two one-act plays, "The Arabian Night" and "Chitra," open the University Theatre's second season on Wednesday in Villard Hall Villard Hall is a historic building located in Eugene, Oregon, United States. Completed in 1886, it is the second-oldest building on the University of Oregon campus after Deady Hall. The Second Empire-style building was listed on National Register of Historic Places in 1972. , 1109 Old Campus Lane.

Rabindranath Tagore's "Chitra" is adapted from the Mahabharata, an ancient Indian text.

The cast for `Chitra' includes Devika Bakshi as Chitra and Eric Pickard as Arjuna, with Wade Christensen, Rachelmay Staygold Takahashi, Melissa Walther Sallee and Charlotte Gallagher.

German playwright Roland Schimmelpfennig's "The Arabian Night" follows five lives that become irreversibly intertwined in a swirl of dreams and memories one warm summer night.

The cast for "The Arabian Night" includes Michael Hoag, Lilli Turner, Dusty Bodeen, Logan Cole and Michelle Rodrigue.

Tickets are $6, $5 for senior citizens, UO faculty and staff and non-UO students, and $4 for UO students; call 346-4363.

The show opens Wednesday and continues on Oct. 26-28 and Nov. 2-4. All performances begin at 8 p.m.

Zero Clearance Theatre, Oakridge

OAKRIDGE - Going the university one better, Zero Clearance Theater Company in Oakridge presents three one-act plays on Saturday, Sunday and Monday in a production called "Unscripted."

The three plays are David Ives' "Words, Words, Words Words, Words, Words is a short comedic play written by David Ives. The play is about three intelligent monkeys who are put in a cage together under the experimenting eye of a never seen Dr. ,' about three monkeys trying to write Shakespeare; Tad Mosel's "Impromptu," about four actors improvising a play; and `Rules of Engagement,' a new work by Oakridge playwright Bob Wilson Bob Wilson is the name of:
  • Bob Wilson (footballer) (born 30 October 1941 in Chesterfield, England), a former goalkeeper for Arsenal and broadcaster
  • Bob Wilson (cartoonist) is a caroonist and author of the Stanley Bagshaw series of children's cartoons

The cast includes Cheryl Colstadt, Terry Callahan and Rebecca Murrill in "Words, Words, Words"; Marlene Neal, Mike Kinyon, Bob Wilson and Kris DeHarpport in "Impromptu"; and Amy Kordosky, Bob Holly Robert William "Bob" Howard[2] (born January 29, 1963) better known by his ring name Hardcore Holly, is an American professional wrestler. He is currently signed to World Wrestling Entertainment wrestling on its RAW brand. , Ross Spencer, Ron Leder, Gary Carl, Kris DeHarpport, Julie Boren and Meisha Hadley in "Rules of Engagement."

The director is Bob Wilson.

Showtime is 7 p.m. Saturday and Monday and 2 p.m. Sunday at the Willamette Activity Center, 47674 School St., Oakridge. Tickets are $5, $3 for students, available at 782-5701 or 782-2815.

Ashland Salutes Willamette Rep

Willamette Repertory Theatre invites its old friends from the Oregon Shakespeare Festival The Oregon Shakespeare Festival (OSF) is a regional repertory theatre in Ashland, Oregon, United States. The festival annually produces eleven plays on three stages during a season that lasts from February to October.  up Interstate 5 one last time on Monday night for the annual fundraiser, "Ashland Salutes Willamette Rep."

This year's event largely will be musical. Returning from last year's salute will be Geoffrey Blaisdell, who wowed the audience with his renditions of Broadway music.

The centerpiece will be a singing ensemble directed by festival leading actor Jonathan Haugen, with Robert Vincent Robert Vincent (born April 13, 1956 in Granby, Quebec) is a Quebec politician. He is the current Bloc Québécois Member of Parliament for the riding of Shefford.

Born in Granby, Quebec, he was a foreman and union advisor before he was first elected in 2004.

The fun starts at 7:30 p.m. at the Hult Center's Soreng Theatre. Tickets are $100, which includes a post-performance reception in the Hult lobby.
