Students for Sensible Drug Policy Students for Sensible Drug Policy (SSDP) is a Washington, D.C.-based non-profit advocacy organization founded in 1998 by a small group of students responding to that year's reauthorization of the Higher Education Act of 1965, which contained a provision denying student loans and the American Civil Liberties Union American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), nonpartisan organization devoted to the preservation and extension of the basic rights set forth in the U.S. Constitution. challenge a Higher Education Act The Higher Education Act may refer to an Act of either the Congress of the United States or of the Parliament of the United Kingdom. - The Higher Education Act of 1965, an Act of the Congress of the United States which was supposed to strengthen the resources of colleges and
provision that has blocked nearly 200,000 students with drug convictions from access to federal financial aid. The groups argue this policy--which applies to pot smokers but not to rapists--amounts to double jeopardy.
