Double feast of ballet to cheer the soul; Reviews.

BIRMINGHAM Royal Ballet's latest offering comprises two contrasting ballets that will both inspire and cheer the soul.

The title takes its name from two of the most well-known choreographers of the last century, Mr B is George Balanchine, creator of the School of American Ballet The School of American Ballet is located in New York City, in Lincoln Center. It is considered one of the most prestigious and notable ballet schools in the United States and teaches some of the most talented young dancers in the country. , and Fred is Frederick Ashton, one of the most profound artists of his generation.

Balanchine's Mozartiana starts the programme, a half hour, four-part piece that is minimalist in its delivery but, courtesy of Pyotr Ilyich Tchaikovsky “Tchaikovsky” redirects here. For other uses, see Tchaikovsky (disambiguation).

, rich in its score and aimed at lovers of classical ballet.

What follows is the more sumptuous The Two Pigeons, a work which BRB has made its own since its rediscovery in the early 1960s.

Andre Messager's music is right out of the romantic period in which it was written and is beautifully suited to a story about a feckless Young Man who has his head turned by a Gypsy Girl.
