Double dreams.

Keeping new year's resolutions A New Year's Resolution is a commitment that an individual makes to a project or a habit, often a lifestyle change that is generally interpreted as advantageous. The name comes from the fact that these commitments normally go into effect on New Year's Day and remain until the set  can be tough ... unless you do it with your BFF BFF Best Friends Forever (chat)

, here are five steps to acing your goals--and hers.

So, last year, you got all fired up to lose 10 pounds. Your new eating habits lasted, oh, right up until those Krispy Kremes Krispy Kreme is a chain of doughnut stores. Its parent company is Krispy Kreme Doughnuts, Inc. (NYSE: KKD), based in Winston-Salem, North Carolina, United States.  were callin' your name. Your best bud didn't do a whole lot better. She resolved to stop nibblin' her nails but, by Day Two, was gnawing holes through her mittens. Is there any hope? Yep-pers! Team up with your friend and go for your goals together.

1. DO THE WRITE THING

Grab pads and pens, and plop plop
v. plopped, plop·ping, plops

v.intr.
1. To fall with a sound like that of an object falling into water without splashing.

2.
down with your girl Each of you should jot down Verb 1. jot down - write briefly or hurriedly; write a short note of

write - communicate or express by writing; "Please write to me every week"
five resolutions--stuff you'd reeeeeally love to make happen. Don't be afraid to go for a goal you haven't been successful with in the past. Sometimes, you've gotta go for something tons of times before it finally clicks. The friendship approach might do the trick.

2. SWAP UP, SISTER

Now turn your list over to your BFF, and she should hand hers to you. Talk your way down both lists, being honest about how well you think you'll do. Like, you could say, "I know I can stop chewing so much gum but, when it comes to being late for school, you know I'm Queen of the Snooze Button. That'll be tougher."

Ask each other the Magic Question: "What can I do to help you keep your resolutions?" Tell your BFF if you want her to call your cell at 7:15 every a.m., so you won't oversleep o·ver·sleep
v. o·ver·slept , o·ver·sleep·ing, o·ver·sleeps

v.intr.
To sleep beyond one's usual or intended time for waking.

v.tr.
. Listen when your BFF tells you what she needs: "If I'm going to bring my French grade up, it would really help if you drill me on my vocab every week." Then, pinkie-swear to keep each other on track.

3. BUDDY UP

OK, keep on committin' by working together on your resolutions as much as you can. Is your bud's goal to get in shape? Go for a wintry win·try   also win·ter·y
adj. win·tri·er also win·ter·i·er, win·tri·est also win·ter·i·est
1. Belonging to or characteristic of winter; cold.

2.
jog with her three times a week. (Let's hear it: "We love the freezing cold!" Repeat: "We love the freezing cold!") Are you determined to keep your closet in order once and for all? Your BFF can pop over to help pack up your tired ol' threads for Goodwill. After all, super-flared denims and rouched tops are sooo 2005--and you've outgrown a lot of those clothes anyway.

4. KEEP IT IN CHECK

When you sit down with your girl to talk about how much progress you've both made, honesty is crucial. Take out her fist, and ask her to tell you how well she's been doing on each resolution ("I admit I munched Cheetos instead of the fight popcorn in front of One Tree Hill on Wednesday"). If she wants 'em, offer suggestions for improvement ("Maybe you could make beaded beaded /bead·ed/ (bed´ed) having the appearance of beads or a string of beads.

bead·ed
adj.
1. Having numerous small rounded projections often in a row.

2.
bracelets instead of snacking when you watch TV"). Then, be upfront about your progress and accept her ideas right back.

After a couple of weeks, one of you may realize a resolution or two just isn't happening. Perhaps you picked a really impractical goal, like acing two tough math courses at once. Or you're so completely fed up with the steps it takes to hit your goal that your head's about to explode (learning to knit is way frustrating frus·trate
tr.v. frus·trat·ed, frus·trat·ing, frus·trates

for you, which sucks the fun right out of it). Feel free to strike stuff from your fists. If you do this, it doesn't mean you've failed. It means you're smart enough to shift your energy to a more rewarding (and doable) goal.

5. REWARDS RULE!

Give each other major snaps when you actually knock out a goal. First off, make a big deal over striking that resolution from the fist. Then, pour on the well earned compliments. And celebrate. She gave up her daily dose of caffeine-laden Diet Coke Diet Coke (sometimes known as Diet Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Light or Coke Light) is a sugar-free soft drink produced and distributed by The Coca-Cola Company. ? Take her out and treat her to a decal latte grande. She deserves it--and so do you. After all, you're the girl who helped her get there.
