Double celebration for Haigh after Chronicle Cup win.


Bedlington's St Benet Biscop School is the first team through this season to the semi-finals of the Evening Chronicle The Evening Chronicle is a daily, evening newspaper produced in Newcastle upon Tyne, covering Tyne and Wear, southern Northumberland and northern County Durham. It was founded in 1885 by Joseph Cowan.  Cup.

Earlier this week the East Northumberland school beat neighbours King Edward King Edward has been the name of several monarchs in English history:
  • Edward the Elder (c.871–924)
  • Edward the Martyr (c.962–978)
  • Edward the Confessor (c.
, Morpeth, with a convincing 3-0 victory.

Scott Hannon, Allan Howe Allan Turner Howe (September 6, 1927 - December 14, 2000) was a politician from the state of Utah.

Howe was born near Murray, Utah and he graduated from the University of Utah. Howe was elected to the House of Representatives as a Democrat in 1974.
 and Andrew Haigh bagged the goals which earned the school's 1st XI side their first ever semi-final appearance.

Proud team manager Simon McAree said: "It's more than a lucky feeling we have. Our performances have been top-class."

Andrew Haigh had a double cause for celebration. As well as being one of the goalscorers, the youngster discovered after the match that he had been called up into the Northumberland Schools Under-19 squad.

McAree said: "Andrew deserves his selection as his performances have mirrored that of the team."

NCOUNTY team manager Andrew Costello has his thoughts focused on his own Heaton Manor School Heaton Manor School is a 11 – 18 state comprehensive school in Heaton, Newcastle upon Tyne.

The school building, fully rebuilt in 2004 from PFI funding replaced two separate sites (known as the Jesmond and Benton
 1st XI side as well as on his county team.

The Heaton school meet Monkseaton in their Chronicle Cup quarter-final on Saturday (10.00).

In the last round the Newcastle side beat Walbottle 3-2. Peter Breckon scored two of Heaton's goals with Lee Halpin notching the other.

Costello said of that win: "It was a cracking cup tie which went into extra time.

"Our extra fitness levels gave us the mental edge."

Heaton Manor are developing quite a reputation as a cup team, as they have already marched into the semi-finals of the Quickfall City Cup.

For the match against Monkseaton, team coach Costello chooses from: Ross Gordon, Josh Green, Craig Downey, Chris Cockburn, Lewis Heather, Chris Lane, Ali Downey, Lee Halpin, Ben Edusei, Philip Mawson, Martin Piggott, Peer Breckon, Harry Tulip, Eddie Lunec, Sean Crick Crick , Francis Henry Compton 1916-2004.

NTHIS afternoon in Blyth, the town's Community College were hosting Seaton Burn in the third of the Chronicle Cup quarter-final ties.

This is only the second season that the college has played in the county competition. Last year the side bowed out against Cramlington in the second round.

The fourth quarter-final between Cramlington and Tynemouth College has suffered a postponement and both sides await a negotiated new date.
