Double bassist plans concert.

Byline: The Register-Guard

CORRECTION (ran 7/14/04): Bassist Jeff Bradetich's July 18 concert is dedicated to the memory of his grandmother, Elizabeth Jaehnke, not his mother, as stated in a story on Page B5 on Sunday.

Double bassist Jeff Bradetich and his wife, pianist Judi Rockey Bradetich, will perform at 4 p.m. next Sunday, July 18, at First United Methodist Church, 1376 Olive St.

The program will include J.B. Vanhal's Concerto for Double Bass and Orchestra in E Minor; "Tutto che il Monda Serra," arranged by Giovanni Bottesini from Frederic Chopin's Etude Op. 25, No. 7 in C-sharp Minor; Jon Deak's B.B. Wolf - An Apologia; Sergy Rachmaninoff's Sonata for Cello and Piano (Op. 19), Astor Piazzolla's "Contrabajeando"; and Leonard Bernstein's Suite from "West Side Story."

The concert is dedicated to the memory of Jeff Bradetich's mother, soprano and music teacher Elizabeth Jaehnke.

Admission is free, but an offering will be taken.

Jeff Bradetich started learning to play double bass in Eugene public schools and studied privately with Robert Hladky and the late Royce Lewis before entering Northwestern University.

Judi Bradetich received her degrees in piano performance and accompanying from Lewis and Clark College in Portland and the University of Southern California in Los Angeles.

He made his New York debut at Carnegie Recital Hall in 1982. Since then he has performed in more than 400 concerts, including his London debut at Wigmore Hall. He plays a 1767 Guadagnini double bass.

He has served as executive director of the International Society of Bassists and as editor of its magazine.

Bradetich and his wife have performed together for 20 years and have recorded six albums. They also are co-founders of the company Music for All to Hear, dedicated to recording music arranged and acoustically prepared for people with impaired hearing.
