Dornoch serves the public with Paterson land buy.

Dornoch Ellison LLC has acquired vacant property from the city of Paterson, N.J. at 75-81 Ellison St. in an effort to develop a public access studio serving the residents of Paterson, announced Stacey Meisel, chief operating officer. The company is an affiliate of Dornoch Holdings LLC, which specializes in the acquisition and repositioning of under-utilized properties in New Jersey. Another affiliate, Dornoch Paterson LLC, has a proposal currently being considered by the city of Paterson to redevelop the Great Falls Historic District Area.

Cablevision will operate the public access studio and will offer on-site telecommunications training to residents in all aspects of filming and production, including video-taping, lighting and film editing. In addition to the studio, plans for Ellison Street call for the new, two-story building to house a computer resource center, as well as 7,870 s/f of ground-floor retail. Dornoch purchased the property for $3.8 million. Construction is scheduled to begin in October.

This access will likely serve as a catalyst to interest our residents of all ages in computers and the telecommunications industry."

Upon completion, the building will consist of approximately 16,670 s/f of space. Currently, the city leases office space to Cablevision of Paterson at another location without an on-site studio.

"Cablevision is proud to serve the Paterson community and build upon our longstanding relationship by providing new public access studio equipment and supporting the creation of a computer resource center," said Adam Falk, vice president of government affairs with Cablevision, which gave Paterson a $150,000 technology grant to purchase all of the studio equipment as part of its cable television franchise commitment to the city. "This new facility will offer valuable training opportunities and a superior public access television studio that will benefit local community members for many years to come."
