Dornoch adds another string to its bow.

Dornoch Holdings LLC of Morristown, N.J., recently launched a full-service title agency, Dornoch Abstract LLC, also of Morristown, announced Glen Fishman, co-founder and managing director of both companies.

Dornoch Abstract will provide a complete range of title services--from commitment through closing--with a focus on structuring complex transactions in the New York metropolitan area and New Jersey.

Dornoch Holdings, which was founded in late 2004, specializes in the acquisition and repositioning of distressed residential and commercial properties, both existing buildings and vacant land. In just six months, the company has become involved in the redevelopment and repositioning of approximately 900,000 square feet of commercial and mixed-use space on 150 acres and more than 1,000 homes in locations throughout New Jersey.

"Dornoch Abstract will be crucial to our activities moving forward," said Fishman, who founded Dornoch Holdings and Dornoch Abstract with Frank Macios, managing director. "The title agency will ensure the secure transfer of property and work to protect all parties involved in our real estate transactions."

Dornoch Abstract is a partnership with TITLEDGE, a title insurance company based in Staten Island, N.Y. Created in 1994, TITLEDGE just completed construction on its new, state-of-the-art facility, which houses more than 100 employees, including seasoned attorneys, accountants, clerks and production team members.

Working together since 2000, Fishman and Macios have more than three decades of combined experience in the real estate and financial services industries. The two formed the Dornoch Opportunity Fund, L.P., a registered fund, to provide capital for investment in a variety of special situation real estate opportunities. Properties are acquired through non-traditional sources, including bankruptcies, private/public partnerships in conjunction with municipalities and special situation workouts, as well as traditional methods, such as real estate brokerage firms and other public/ private offerings.

"We are planning to launch additional funds as we grow and will also form new entities to contribute to the development, marketing and management of our real estate holdings," Fishman noted. "In this way, we will be positioned to draw upon a full range of complementary specialized disciplines in-house as we continue to expand our activities and our portfolio."
