Donoghue's Sector Fund Portfolio Posts 86.71% Gain for 1999 & 40.00% Three-year Annualized Return.

Business Editors

MILFORD, Mass.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Jan. 15, 2000

Donoghue's Diversified Sector Portfolio, a managed portfolio of Fidelity mutual funds, has, as of 12/31/99, a trailing one-year performance of 86.71% total return and a trailing three-year annualized performance of 40.00% through 12/31/99.

Donoghue's Diversified Sector Fund
Sector Fund
An investment fund that makes investments solely in businesses that operate in a particular industry or sector of the economy.

Notes:
Because the holdings of this type of fund are in the same industry, there is an inherent lack of diversification by sector associated with these funds.
Power Portfolio is an actively-managed four-fund portfolio chosen from sixty-two market sector-focused Fidelity Investments funds including Fidelity Select Portfolios, single-country and regional international stock funds, specialty funds and defensive bond or money market funds. The four funds, each of which accounts for approximately one-quarter of the portfolio at any time, are chosen based on recent profit momentum. The portfolio's rankings are reviewed weekly, resulting this year in about six trades per portfolio position.

William Donoghue, Chairman of W.E. Donoghue & Co., Inc. notes The New York Times said it well today, "Investing in the stock market for the long term, the strategy which has made the most sense and the most money for people over the years, is dead." "Our actively-traded portfolios prove that point, having produced higher returns at lower risk ratings (beta and standard deviation) than all but 24 of the 11,000+ mutual funds in America. Keeping in tune with the market is more profitable than buying a wonderfully plausible investment story."

"As our portfolio enters the New Millennium year-end it held (depending on which funds were recommended when an investor first opened their portfolio) four of the following nine funds: Fidelity Select Software (FSCSX), Fidelity Select Technology (FSPTX), Fidelity Select Developing Communications (FSDCX), Fidelity Select Biotechnology (FBIOX), Fidelity Latin America (FLATX), Fidelity Southeast Asia (FSEAX), Fidelity Nordic (FNORX), Fidelity Select Computers (FDCPX), or Fidelity Hong Kong & China (FHKCX)," reports Donoghue. This is not intended to be a recommendation of any one of these mutual funds; rather it is a statement of which funds are currently included in Donoghue's portfolio model.

W.E. Donoghue & Co., Inc. is a registered investment advisor with over $100 million in managed portfolios of mutual funds serving individuals, trusts and institutional investors since 1986. Past returns are, of course, no guarantee of future performance.
