Dongbu Electronics to Host 14th Korean Conference on Semiconductors.


More Than 1,500 Semiconductor Experts Expected to Attend February 8-9 Conference During Which "Nano Sensors" and "CMOS Image Sensors" Will Be Reviewed Among 511 Papers

SEOUL, South Korea -- Dongbu Electronics today confirmed that it will host the 14th Korean Conference on Semiconductors to be held February 8-9 at the Lotte Hotel on Jeju Island. More than 1,500 semiconductor experts, including a large delegation from South Korea, are expected to participate as 511 technical papers are presented, among which the subject of "Nano Sensors" and "CMOS Image Sensors" will be reviewed. Jeju Island, site of this year's Conference is one of the most beautiful islands in East Asia, located just off the southern shores of South Korea, an hour flight from Seoul.

 (Electronics and Telecommunications Research Institute), will lead the plenary session at this year's Conference with "The Story of Moore," in which he will look beyond Moore's Law "The number of transistors and resistors on a chip doubles every 18 months." He made this famous comment in 1965 when there were approximately 60 devices on a chip.  to review the current and future progress of "Nano Sensors" and MEMS (MicroElectroMechanical Systems) Tiny mechanical devices that are built onto semiconductor chips and are measured in micrometers. In the research labs since the 1980s, MEMS devices began to materialize as commercial products in the mid-1990s. . He will be followed by Dr. Toru Maekawa from Toyo University who will discuss "Creation of New Bio-Nano Devices via Self-assembly," a next-generation convergence technology.

According to Dongbu Electronics, 511 papers (comprising 6 invited papers, 218 oral presentations and 287 poster presentations) will be discussed in 12 sub-divisions in two groups (Device/Process Technology Group and Design Technology Group). "Dark Characteristics Enhancing Methods of CMOS Image Sensors" will be one of the timely topics addressed.

On the opening day of the Conference, a "Chip Design Contest" will be held, during which 28 teams will compete. Major Korean universities, including Seoul National University Not to be confused with the University of Seoul.

 and KAIST KAIST Korea Advanced Institute of Science and Technology , will participate and demonstrate semiconductor chips produced by semiconductor foundries. Goal of the contest is to encourage the sharing of technology and information in both semiconductor and system design.

During the second day of the Conference, a "Rump Session" will provide opportunities to discuss semiconductor technology forecasts and development strategies for both the memory and mobile communication markets.
