Donate in Your Birthday in Thailand

When many people think about birthdays, they of the usual things such as cake, candles, party and of course the gifts But in Thai, things are done just a little bit differently

When many people think about birthdays, they of the usual things such as cake, candles, party and of course the gifts. But in Thai, things are done just a little bit differently. Although a birth day is still celebrated, it is also seen as a way to give thanks to others that have meaning in their life. For this to be done, it happens through a process called Tak Bart and is a very special way for the people of Thai to donate in your birthday.

You may think that this means to donate money or gifts to someone or to a charity of some sort. In fact, it is the offering to offer food to the monks and they get a blessing when this is done. The blessing can be for themselves or they can use the blessing as a way to donate in your birthday to someone that they may have lost or for someone that is very special to them in their lives. Food, rice, dessert and water are gathered together for the offering for the monks on this day as a part of event.
After you have gathered everything together for your special event, you will offer your offerings to the monks. After you have given your offerings, it is time to then Phanom Mue which is to wait for your blessings with your hands pressed tightly together against your forehead. When the monks are ready to give you your blessings, water is poured into a bowl by you during the blessing. This part of your birthday is called Kruatnam. After the blessing is finished, and you have mented, you can then donate in your birthday as you pour the water into the tree.

If you are wondering what the tree is and the purpose, it is to send along your merit. It is important to know that before anything even begins, there is an incantation that is recited before you even make your donation and there is one that is recited during as well. The Thai people find that this is a very special part of a giving day. Even though people in the USA are thankful for all that happens to them on their day, the people in Thai believe that making a donation in your birthday is a very special gift that they can give in return.

As you can see, things are done differently everywhere you go. Everyone has a special way that they like to celebrate their birthday and in Thai this includes giving thanks to those that they love, or to someone that has done something special for them. This is why to donate in your birthday is a loving and special thing that someone can do for someone else.
