During a guest appearance on CNN's "Larry King Live" talk show on Friday, June 29, nationally syndicated talk show host Don Imus issued a $10,000 challenge to country radio stations to play a specific (country) artist on the air; only one country station in America responded and now KZLA-FM in Los Angeles has $10,000 for their charity.

"I was very serious about this," Imus told KZLA Morning Host Peter Tilden on-air this morning. "I don't know these guys. I never met them, but I enjoy their music. I told Larry King that the first country radio station in a top 10 market to have a single from the group The Flatlanders in Top 10 rotation, I would donate $10,000 to that radio station's favorite charity. You guys (KZLA) are playing it, and I am Federal Express-ing a check to you for $10,000."

"We heard about the challenge and decided to take on the legendary Don Imus," says KZLA Morning Host Peter Tilden. "We know our listeners are very passionate about their music, so we are playing a song by The Flatlanders every hour and having our listeners vote for the song on our website, www.kzla.com. If they (listeners) like it, we'll play it; if not, we won't. But we now have $10,000 for our Tilden's Children Charities."

Tilden's Children is a program created by KZLA which helps homeless and low-income children prepare for a positive future. The program partners with the L.A. Family Housing Project and the Orange County Rescue Mission to directly help the families involved in those programs.

The Flatlanders are a country group featuring Jimmie Dale Gilmore, Joe Ely and Butch Hancock. Their new CD "Now Again" is in stores now.
