I thought it was the council's job to promote the city of Birmingham and get in income, so to snub the speedway when they do a lot of good work for the Children's Hospital A children's hospital is a hospital which offers its services exclusively to children. The number of children's hospitals proliferated in the 20th century, as pediatric medical and surgical specialties separated from internal medicine and adult surgical specialties. and the city is wrong. Leicester Council gave permission for speedway near the hospital and a housing site. They used the noise reading from Perry Barr Perry Barr is an area in north Birmingham, England. It is also a council constituency, managed by its own district committee. The constituency includes the smaller Perry Barr ward and the wards of Handsworth Wood, Lozells and East Handsworth, and Oscott. and approval was given. The Brummies have brought a lot of success to the city over the three years. There is more noise from the football and the main road than you get from the speedway. The election will be here next year so Brummies, you know who to vote for. Thomas K Park, Edgbaston * IT WOULD be a sad loss for Birmingham if the Brummies speedway is forced to close down. And a bigger loss for its fans and the Children's Hospital too. Birmingham speedway raises a lot of money for the Children's Hospital and also feeds into the local economy via travelling fans. There have been 16 complaints about the noise in three years. The University has said it disrupts the students' studying and lessons - since when do students have lessons and study periods after 7.30pm? All of the students we have spoken to didn't know what we were on about. The Brummies have won more silverwear in the last three years than Villa or Blues have won in God knows how long! Come on all you speedway fans - write to your local councillor and the Birmingham Mail telling them what you feel. I know all about noise as I live in the direct flight path to Birmingham Airport - about 500 yards as the crow flies from the end of the runway.
