Don't mark NATS.Some mechanics believe that DA PAM DA PAM Department of the Army Pamphlet 738-751, TAMMS-A TAMMS-A The Army Maintenance Management System - Aviation , authorizes marking of tools in the aviation tool system (NATS NATS National Air Traffic Services NATS National Association of Teachers of Singing NATS Naval Air Transport Service NATS National Aerospace Technology Strategy NATS Nissan Anti-Theft System NATS Nebraska Association of Teachers of Science ) kit for tracking. But that belief is wrong. The PAM says nothing about tool marking! In fact, according to the PM, Sets, Kits, Outfits and Tools, there is no requirement of directive to mark of engrave en·grave tr.v. en·graved, en·grav·ing, en·graves 1. To carve, cut, or etch into a material: engraved the champion's name on the trophy. 2. NATS tools or any hand tools for identification or inventory purposes. So, do not mark tools! The NATS tool kit has foam inserts with cutouts in the shape of the tools. This design is to make tool inventory and storage easier for the units. So, there's no need to mark aviation tools. |
