Dominion dominion, power to rule, or that which is subject to rule. Before 1949 the term was used officially to describe the self-governing countries of the Commonwealth of Nations—e.g., Canada, Australia, or India.  Enterprises, publisher of The Employment Guide (www.EmploymentGuide.com), said today that it has completed the transaction announced in March to divide the assets of its predecessor company, Trader Publishing Company, between 50-50 co-owners Landmark Communications Landmark Communications is a privately held media company headquartered in Norfolk, Virginia and specializing in cable television, broadcast television, print publishing, and internet publishing. , Inc., Norfolk, Va., and Cox Enterprises Cox Enterprises is the successor to the publishing company founded in Dayton, Ohio, by James Middleton Cox, who began with the Dayton Daily News. The company is private, 98% controlled by the octogenarian daughter of Cox, Anne Cox Chambers, and the two children of her late , Atlanta, Ga.

The completion of this agreement gives Landmark 100-percent ownership of the media and information service properties in the employment, real estate, recreation, and industrial categories. Landmark's assets now form a new company called "Dominion Enterprises."

"We chose the name Dominion Enterprises to reflect our heritage as a Virginia-based company, as well as for its broad scope since our businesses span a wide variety of print and Internet assets," said Chief Executive Officer Conrad M. Hall. "The Employment Guide is now part of new media company that is committed to providing people with easy-to-access, reliable information so that they can make educated decisions in life -- whether it's a buying home, seeking employment or making a major purchase for recreation such as a boat, motorcycle motorcycle, motor vehicle whose design is based on the bicycle. The German inventor Gottlieb Daimler is generally credited with building the first practical motorcycle in 1885. The motorcycle did not become dependable and popular, however, until after 1900.  or RV."

In addition to The Employment Guide, Dominion Enterprises' assets include: 503 paid and free magazine titles such as For Rent(R), Harmon Homes(R), Boat Trader(R), Cycle Trader(R) and RV Trader(R) with a combined weekly circulation of nearly 6 million; over 40 market-leading websites such as ForRent.com(R), Boats.com, and Traderonline.com(TM) reaching over 8 million monthly visitors; data capture and distribution businesses such as Dealer Specialties(R); and web services (1) Loosely, any online service delivered over the Web. Such usage appears in articles from non-technical sources, but not in IT-oriented publications, because definition #2 below describes the correct use of the term.  businesses across all the company's industry categories, including Homes.com(R) and Yachtworld.com(R).

As part of the agreement, Dominion will also own Dominion Distribution Services (DDS (1) (Digital Data Storage) See DAT.

Prior to the division of assets by Landmark and Cox, Trader Publishing Company had annual revenue of $1.3 billion. Approximately $850 million of this revenue figure will now form the annual revenue base of Dominion Enterprises.

Dominion Enterprises is expected to move into new company headquarters located in downtown Norfolk in January 2007. Nearly 1,000 of Dominion's 6,600 employees work in the Norfolk/Hampton Roads area.
