Domestic violence unit created in Manitoba Government.


The Manitoba Domestic Violence Intervention A procedure used in a lawsuit by which the court allows a third person who was not originally a party to the suit to become a party, by joining with either the plaintiff or the defendant.  Unit has been created as a joint venture of the Department of Family Services and Housing and the Attorney General's department.

It is modelled after a pilot in Winnipeg that will connect social workers with police agencies to take action before potentially volatile family relationships escalate es·ca·late
