Domain-optimized FPGA.
The new Virtex-5 family of domain-optimized FPGAs is built upon 65
nm triple-oxide technology and new ExpressFabric technology. Said to
work at speeds about 30% higher, and with 65% increased capacity, than
earlier 90 nm FPGAs, while reducing dynamic power consumption by 35% and
consuming 45% less area. The Virtex-5 LX family also features 550 MHz (MegaHertZ) One million cycles per second. It is used to measure the transmission speed of electronic devices, including channels, buses and the computer's internal clock. A one-megahertz clock (1 MHz) means some number of bits (16, 32, 64, etc. clocking technology with performance-tuned IP blocks.
WHO: Xilinx Xilinx, Inc. (NASDAQ: XLNX) is the world's largest developer and fabless manufacturer of a class of reconfigurable hardware chips known as field-programmable gate arrays (FPGAs).
