He is a staff writer at The New Yorker, where he writes a regular column on business and finance called "The Financial Page". , the author of the article titled "The Puck Stops Here," which dealt with the grossly inadequate coverage of labor-management matters and the basic economics of professional team sports by sports reporters and columnists in most of the media. Mr. Surowiecki has nailed the problems of bias and incompetence in·com·pe·tence or in·com·pe·ten·cy n. 1.
