Dollar, gold mixed in EuropeThe U.S. dollar was mixed against other major currencies in European trading Monday. Gold was also mixed in Europe. The euro traded at $1.3021, up from $1.3009 Friday in New York. Later, in midday trading in New York, the euro fetched $1.3027. Other dollar rates in Europe, compared with late Friday, included 118.49 Japanese yen, down from 118.60; 1.2356 Swiss francs, unchanged; and 1.1777 Canadian dollars, up from 1.1729. The British pound traded at $1.9375, up from $1.9301. In midday New York trading, the dollar bought 118.44 yen and 1.2344 Swiss francs, while the pound was worth $1.9388. Gold traded in London at $607.10 per troy ounce, down from $609.50 late Friday. In Zurich, gold traded at $607.50, up from $601.95. Gold fell $15.50 in Hong Kong to $608.00. Silver opened in London at $12.18, up from $12.17.
