) announced today that it will be celebrating its 40-year anniversary at the ShoWest 2005 convention, held in Las Vegas Las Vegas (läs vā`gəs), city (1990 pop. 258,295), seat of Clark co., S Nev.; inc. 1911. As the company honors 40 years of technological advancements, Dolby will showcase its latest digital cinema, audio, and subtitling products and technologies that are designed to serve studios and exhibitors alike and lead them into the digital future.

While the digital cinema market continues to evolve, Dolby is leveraging its well respected entertainment, research, and engineering heritage to provide compelling solutions for the digital cinema market. The Dolby(R) Digital Cinema system, which has already delivered more than 1,000 successful screenings in beta sites worldwide, is a high-quality, secure and reliable solution that is designed and built specifically for today's cinemas. The Dolby Digital A digital audio encoding system from Dolby used in movie and home theaters. First used in 1995, Dolby Digital employs Dolby's AC-3 (Audio Coding-3) coding and compression technology and is the standard for DVD-Video and HDTV.

 Cinema system will be displayed in the booth and showcased at the ShoWest opening day lunch. During this event, Dolby will debut its digital cinema trailer, Countdown, and present an overview of Dolby's 40 years of entertainment innovations.

On display will be the Dolby CP650 Cinema Processor, the engine of Dolby's modern cinema sound system. Found in thousands of flagship cinemas worldwide, the CP650 processes all Dolby sound formats. Other configurations are available to fit the needs of a cinema, while providing an easy upgrade path.

In addition, Dolby will also be demonstrating its ScreenTalk(TM) product line during ShoWest 2005. ScreenTalk is a cinema subtitling system that provides full-color digital subtitles via a video projector A video projector takes a video signal and projects the corresponding image on a projection screen using a lens system. All video projectors use a very bright light to project the image, and most modern ones can correct any curves, blurriness, and other inconsistencies through  or an alternative subtitling device. It also provides audio commentary for the visually impaired using the cinema's wireless headphone See headphones.  system. Dolby ScreenTalk digitally superimposes subtitles over any standard 35 mm film with a Dolby Digital soundtrack.
