Doing what they can to keep their image clean.Amen Brother! You hit it on the head in the August editorial ("Our Image Stinks"). We don't have to be a dirty old foundry, rather a neat and organized metalcasting facility. That is our philosophy at Clow, and we discuss it daily. I hold my managers to it annually. I am a firm believer in "how you look is how you do." My older foremen were the hardest to change because of the way it use to be done--organizing and cleaning up didn't ship castings. But when it is supported from the top down, we can have it all and be successful! John L. Grahek Clow Valve Co. Congratulations, the August editorial ("Our Image Stinks") is the best I have ever read in more than 40 years in the metalcasting business. Your point about making a good first impression is so important. We have a metalcasting facility that is clean, well lit and organized. We have a saying here that if we get a potential buyer to visit, we do business with them. Woodland/Alloy Casting has never had a customer tour our plant that did not end up buying castings from us. It does not cost a lot of money to keep your plant clean and orderly. It is a culture, and, when demanded by ownership, it becomes a way of doing business. Thank you for having the courage to address this issue to our fellow metalcasters. Hank hank n. 1. A coil or loop. 2. Nautical A ring on a stay attached to the head of a jib or staysail. 3. Your article in the August 2006 magazine titled "Our Image Stinks" really caught my interest.
