Does the Royal Bank stand for tolerance or is it promoting the homosexual lifestyle?Toronto--In September 2004, tens of thousands of Royal Bank employees were directed by bank management to display the Rainbow Triangle on their work desks. In early September, RBC RBC red blood cell. RBC or rbc abbr. red blood cell RBC, n See red blood cell count. RBC red blood cells; red blood (cell) count (see blood count). employees arrived at the office to find the directive on their PCs. "The RBC Space (program) is a visible, non-threatening way to show that your desk, cubicle or office is a safe place for gay men, bisexuals, transgendered transgendered adjective Relating to a person who has undergone genital/sexual reassignment surgery Transgender health issues Hormonal therapy, cosmetic surgery, fertility options–eg, egg and sperm banking. The document goes on to imply that unsupportive co-workers are homophobic and will not be tolerated. Of the Royal Bank's 60,000 global employees, roughly half are Canadian. (Canadian Free Press, Sept. 24, 2004). Comment The "Rainbow Space" campaign literature presents the standard false data. It falsely claims that their gender is something "assigned to them at birth" (scientific attempts to prove this have failed); that 10 percent of people are homosexual (the recently published statistics of the 2000 Canada Census shows 1 percent); and that people can be "two-spirited"--male and female (a New Age fable). "Homophobia homophobia Psychology An irrationally negative attitude toward those with homosexual orientation, or toward becoming homosexual. See Closet, Gay-bashing, Heterosexism. Cf Gay, Homosexual, Phobia. " is the term they are using for people who oppose the homosexual lifestyle. In 2001, the Royal Bank refused to open an account in Montreal for an organization opposing the Gay Games The Gay Games is the world's largest sporting and cultural event organized by LGBT athletes, artists, musicians, and others. Originally called the Gay Olympics, projected for 2006. It claimed that the Charter of Rights obliges it to refuse services to anyone opposing homosexual activities (See "The Royal Bank for homosexuals?" C.I., May 2002, p.30). It did this despite a ruling by the Quebec Human Rights Commission that the organization had not discriminated against homosexuals. Is the directive to employees merely an exhortation to tolerance of homosexuals? The text speaks of a safe place for "gay men, bisexuals, transgendered and lesbians," in other words Adv. 1. in other words - otherwise stated; "in other words, we are broke" put differently for those who practice homosexual activities. It would seem that Catholic parishes and dioceses, and all Christians who do business with the Royal Bank (and the CIBC CIBC Canadian Imperial Bank of Commerce CIBC Centres Interinstitutionnels de Bilan de Compétences CIBC Commonwealth Institute of Biological Control (Trinidad) CIBC Commercial International Brokerage Company ), will have to change banks. |
