COMEDIAN Ken Dodd Kenneth Arthur Dodd OBE (born 8 November 1927, in Knotty Ash, Liverpool), better known as Ken Dodd, is a veteran English comedian and singer, famous for selling over 100 million records, his buck teeth, frizzy hair, feather duster (or "tickling stick"), and his catchphrases,  officially opened the new inpatient inpatient /in·pa·tient/ (in´pa-shent) a patient who comes to a hospital or other health care facility for diagnosis or treatment that requires an overnight stay.

n.
 unit at a Liverpool hospice.

Woodlands hospice, at Fazakerley hospital, has cared for terminally-ill residents of north Merseyside since it was established in 1991.

The new unit, which cost pounds 2.35m to build, was funded from donations, fundraising events and a grant from the Department of Health.

The unit will have 15 single bedrooms, a chapel, a dining room and a family room.

It was designed to ensure patients feel as comfortable as possible.

Doddy said: "It was a great honour to open the new unit and I felt very moved by the love and dedication expressed by all the marvellous people who have raised funds."
