Document management for ACT!


NASHUA, N.H.--(BUSINESS WIRE)--Feb. 26, 1996--If you are using ACT! to manage contacts, and have a lot of documents to interact with, then GemSoft Corporation has a new product for you called Emerald for ACT!.

Linked with your ACT! contacts it opens the door up to all kinds of documents which you can create, use and manage in an organized way.

Just click on the folder In a graphical user interface (GUI), a simulated file folder that holds data, applications and other folders. Folders were introduced on the Xerox Star, then popularized on the Macintosh and later adapted to Windows and Unix. In Unix and Linux, as well as DOS and Windows 3.  in the ACT! icon bar, and Emerald displays the current contact's drawer and folder. A list of that contact's files appear in an opened folder. They can be ACT! documents, scanned images or files generated from any desktop application. If your customer's correspondence happens to be in Microsoft Word A full-featured word processing program for Windows and the Macintosh from Microsoft. Included in the Microsoft application suite, it is a sophisticated program with rudimentary desktop publishing capabilities that has become the most widely used word processing application on the market. , for example, click to open it. You can change the letter, create an invoice, or cross-reference to a spread sheet stored in another folder. Letters created in ACT! can be directly saved into Emerald's contact folder. To FAX, drag a document into the FAX icon and the FAX program opens up with the contact's name and FAX number already in position.

To keep things in your work group from getting out of hand, Emerald has version control, security control, cross referencing and activity tracking. Version control lets a group interact with a document while maintaining its integrity. For security, you can make private or shared drawers, folders and documents. And, if you are searching for a file or content within a file, you can find it by using Emerald's quick-search functions.
