NASPO is a non-profit, member-supported organization that certifies that providers of security documents, labels, packaging materials and technology operate under an agreed-upon set of operational standards and security protocols. In countries outside the United States and Canada, security product providers are often subject to certain regulations and standards established by government and/or private industry. This is not the case in the United States, and many believe that there has been an erosion of public confidence in graphic security technologies marketed by unqualified providers who sell ineffective "look-alike" products with no regard for the financial or security issues that their actions create.

In order to safeguard new and stronger technologies developed by bona-fide security providers and to bring credibility to the security products industry, NASPO is accredited accredited

recognition by an appropriate authority that the performance of a particular institution has satisfied a prestated set of criteria.

It is the U.S. member body to ISO and IEC. ). Founded in 1918, ANSI's mission is to enhance the global competitiveness of U.S. business by administering and coordinating the U.S. voluntary standardization and conformity assessment system. Through the development of rigorous standards for purchasing, manufacturing, distribution, issuance and sales channels, NASPO audits organizations that provide identity documents, financial instruments and branded products. Certification of suppliers meeting these standards gives end-users confidence in the credibility and integrity of these products.

Patrick White, Chairman, President and CEO (1) (Chief Executive Officer) The highest individual in command of an organization. Typically the president of the company, the CEO reports to the Chairman of the Board.  of DSSI stated, "We fully support the mission of NASPO. In today's environment, where detecting counterfeit products or preventing unauthorized duplication of vital documents can literally mean the difference between life and death for law-abiding citizens, it is vital for end-users to have some sort of benchmark for evaluating providers of security products. Too many so-called "security providers" are offering products that simply do not work in an era of increasingly sophisticated copiers and scanners. DSSI's extensive knowledge of security technology and the proven reliability of its products have been proven time and again, and we are pleased to become a voting member of NASPO. As a voting member, we will assist in raising the standards and enhancing the credibility of our industry and seek to continue to find new ways to minimize the economic, social and legal risks of fraud that companies and consumers face on a daily basis. Our participation in NASPO is also an important component of our plan to develop certified in-house manufacturing operations for the production of all types of highly secure documents for the global marketplace."
