DoCoMo to Release FOMA SA700iS Handset with Navigation Capability.


Tokyo, Japan, Sept 26, 2005 - (JCNN JCNN Japan Corporate News Network ) - NTT DoCoMo will bring to market the SA700iS, its first FOMA See i-Mode.  handset that has incorporated navigation capability, on October 1.

The mobile phone features There are many mobile phone features found in today's mobile phones that offer users many more capabilities than only voice calls or text messaging. General features

 the Ichioshi Button that can activate each of the various navigation functions with a single touch operation, and the Kantan Navi navigation function that shows the user's current location or routes to his/her destinations.

DoCoMo will also expand its i-Area location information service to support GPS functions from October 1, enabling users to view a map on the i-area site, or utilize other location specific i-mode content.

The handset measures 101x51x25mm, and weighs 117g. It featuers continuous standby times of 330 hours (not in motion) and 250 hours (in motion), a continuous talk time of 140 minutes, and a continuous videophone (1) (VideoPhone) A line of videophones (definition #1 below) from AT&T that were introduced in the early 1990s and later pulled off the market due to poor sales. The first models came with a price tag above $1,000, and a pair were needed. See Picturephone.  time of 90 minutes.
