Do you know a child who deserves a trip to Lapland? FIVE SPECIAL CHILDREN WILL GET TO MEET FATHER CHRISTMAS IN LAPLAND.Byline: By SAMANTHA NANDA NANDA North American Nursing Diagnosis Association samantha.nanda@mrn.co.ukFIVE deserving youngsters will get the chance to meet Santa Claus in Lapland thanks to funding from this year's Mercia FM Thunderball Concert and Bhandal Dental Practice. Crowds of people packed into the Skydome arena last month to see a whole host of top pop acts including Girls Aloud and Lemar. And at the same time they helped raise thousands of pounds for sick and disabled children including the chance for five children to go on this once-in-a-lifetime trip to the Arctic Circle. John Stratton, events manager for Mercia FM, said it was great for the radio station to be able to help. John said: "We did this in 2002. It worked really well and generated a great reaction from people especially as it is at Christmas time. "And it is great to be able to do something for kids that really deserve it." John also went on the trip in 2002 and said the best part was seeing the children enjoy themselves. He said: "It was brilliant, both the kids and parents had a fantastic time, it really is a very special trip and I urge anyone that knows of a deserving child to nominate them." Children will also get the chance to go on husky and reindeer sleigh sleigh: see sled. rides, snowmobiling and of course look out for Santa and his elves. We are looking for youngsters who have overcome difficulties in the past year and touched the hearts of those who know them for the Cosmos trip.
