Do you know a child who deserves a Christmas treat? FIVE SPECIAL CHILDREN WILL GET TO MEET SANTA AND HIS ELVES IN LAPLAND.

THE search is on for five deserving children to be sent on the holiday of a lifetime in Lapland - and to meet Santa Claus.

The Evening Telegraph has joined forces with Mercia FM, Cosmos and the Bhandal Dental Practice to offer the fantastic trip to children who really deserve a magical Christmas this year.

We are looking for youngsters who have overcome difficulties in the past year and touched the hearts of those who know them.

And Cosmos, who have been organising trips to Lapland for 16 years, said both children and adults alike will have a magical time.

Lapland area manager Rob Goodwin, who spends six weeks in the winter wonderland every year, said it truly is an amazing place.

"It really is a fantastic trip which begins right at the airport. When the children arrive in Lapland they'll have to be on the look-out straight away as you never know when they might catch a glimpse of Santa.

"The activities planned are wonderful. We have husky sleighs pulled by between six and eight dogs which take us through candlelit woodland.

"Everyone gets the chance to learn how to toboggan properly. They also get a chance to go snowmobiling."

Rob added: "And of course there is the chance to visit Santa's post office and see the elves hard at work."

If you know of a child aged 10 or under who has had to cope with illness, hardship or bereavement, or perhaps been a kind-hearted carer to someone, we want to hear from you.

The five youngsters will fly to Lapland on December 19, along with one parent or carer each.
