There's no time like the present

"Why put off till tomorrow what you can do today?" Even if you're not a fan of cliches, you can still see the value of this statement. Too often, many of us dream up big goals--and small ones--but resolve to achieve them at some unknown point in life called "later." As in, later: when learn more money; when I'm married; when the kids are grown and on their own. The list goes on.

"`Someday, when I have the time, I'm going to ...' Maybe you've used that expression before," says Hyrum W. Smith, author of The 10 Natural Laws of Successful Time and Life Management: Proven Strategies for Increased Productivity and Inner Peace. "Well, I've got news for you. You'll never achieve that desire and you'll always have regrets unless you do something about it."

And that means now, while you still can. Procrastination is a sure dream-killer. So when you start coming up with excuse after excuse, ask yourself: "Can I afford to miss out on another opportunity to make my dreams a reality?" If the answer is yes, then maybe it really isn't that important to you and letting it go won't cause you much inner turmoil. But if the answer is no, resolve to get started now. "Later" isn't promised to anyone, and the next time just may be your last chance to make good on those aims.
