, Inc. (www.diveo.net), a leading provider of Internet infrastructure and broadband services See broadband and broadband service provider.  in Latin America announced today that it has developed the first pan regional fiber ring network connecting all of its Internet Data Centers in Latin America and Miami.

By signing international fiber backbone agreements with Global Crossing Ltd., Emergia, Avantel, GlobalOne and Embratel, Diveo will leverage these strategic fiber investments to enhance its pan regional Internet Data Center footprint.

Since the fall of 2000, Diveo has been working with the leading fiber providers to connect its seven Internet Data Centers in the region together through dedicated redundant connections.

As part of Diveo's strategy to provide the highest quality network performance and efficiency of its Internet Data Centers, Diveo has obtained multiple STM-1 backbones from various providers including Avantel (Mexico), Embratel (Brazil), Emergia, GlobalOne and Global Crossing. Diveo's fiber ring network includes full STM-1 connectivity from Miami to Buenos Aires Buenos Aires (bwā`nəs ī`rēz, âr`ēz, Span. bwā`nōs ī`rās), city and federal district (1991 pop.  and Miami to Sao Paulo as well as Sao Paulo to Buenos Aires, and significant capacity from Miami to both Mexico City Mexico City

 and Bogota.

Together these international backbones connect seven of Diveo's operations allowing the company to offer a robust fiber network to its customers and scale its operations to offer the highest degree of network efficiency.

"Since launching our first Internet Data Center one year ago in Brazil, Diveo has consistently worked to develop a comprehensive strategy that offers Latin American enterprises and Internet enablers with the best-in-class infrastructure and connectivity environment to conduct business on the Internet," said David Rutchik, President, IP Business and EVP EVP Executive Vice President

Corporate Development for Diveo Broadband Networks. "Our pan regional Internet Data Center network, the first and largest in the region, is now connected via this fiber ring network, a clear differentiator in the marketplace. This ensures complete end-to-end network management for our customers and the ability to quickly scale our connectivity and capacity to meet our customers' needs. Offering our customers superior network performance and interconnectivity of our Internet Data Centers is a critical part of our strategy to offer the best Internet infrastructure throughout the region," concluded Rutchik.

Diveo's fiber ring network also provides a direct connection to the US Internet backbone (communications, networking) Internet backbone - High-speed networks that carry Internet traffic.

These communications networks are provided by companies such as AT&T, GTE, IBM, MCI, Netcom, Sprint, UUNET and consist of high-speed links in the T1, T3, OC1 and OC3 ranges.
for Diveo customers. To create this pan-regional international fiber backbone, Diveo has obtained capacity on the latest generation and most robust undersea cables including SAC, SAm-1 and Americas II.

This fiber ring backbone is part of Diveo's overall strategy to deliver the highest possible quality Internet performance for enterprises and their customers throughout Latin America.

Earlier this month, Diveo announced its pan regional peering strategy and the creation of the first private NAP in Brazil, allowing content providers and ISPs to connect with one another in Diveo's Internet Data Center in Sao Paulo.

By fostering the exchange of traffic between the major Internet players in each market and ensuring greater interconnectivity between networks, Diveo improves the experience and performance for ISPs that connect with Diveo's private NAP. Further, ISPs and content providers who connect to Diveo's NAP can take advantage of a faster and more reliable network performance for their customers.

This network architecture allows Diveo to offer pan regional customers optimal web performance and reduced latency while offering the ability to continuously scale capacity, as customer demand requires - ultimately providing a "one-hop" delivery platform from the Internet to users.

In addition, Diveo offers a single autonomous system number (networking, routing) Autonomous System Number - (ASN) Used for routing on the Internet.  (ASN (1) (Autonomous System Number) A unique identifier of an autonomous system on the Internet. Of the 65 thousand ASNs available, more than 30 thousand have been assigned to ISPs and NSPs. ISPs usually have only one ASN, but NSPs may have more than one. ) for its facilities, which enhances service quality and traffic management for Diveo's pan regional customers. This means Internet traffic Internet traffic is the flow of data around the Internet. It includes web traffic, which is the amount of that data that is related to the World Wide Web, along with the traffic from other major uses of the Internet, such as electronic mail and peer-to-peer networks.  traversing the region will be optimally routed, staying on Diveo's private network as long as possible until it reaches the network of the end-user.

And with a single autonomous system, all internal client communications - such as synchronization (1) See synchronous and synchronous transmission.

(3) Keeping time-of-day clocks in two devices set to the same time. See NTP.

By obtaining capacity on these international fiber backbones, Diveo and its customers take advantage of the self-healing rings offered by providers such as Global Crossing and Emergia. These self-healing rings provide internal restoration capability in the event of link outage out·age
